Why this hub ?
In an era of unprecedented global interconnection, educational systems face common challenges while developing distinctive responses rooted in their cultural, historical, and political contexts. The acceleration of educational reforms worldwide—from curriculum transformations to digital integration, from teacher professionalization to assessment redesign—demands new frameworks for understanding how educational change travels, translates, and transforms across borders.
The Sino-European Hub emerges from a decade of collaborative research between European and Asian scholars who share a conviction: comparative education is not merely an academic discipline but a vital tool for mutual understanding and informed policy-making.
The Hub offers a shared infrastructure where researchers can identify collaborators, join thematic working groups, access resources and develop projects within an established international network.
Our goal is to create an infrastructure where scholars at every career stage can find collaborators, develop research, and contribute to a growing community of practice.
Our aim is to make Sino-European comparative education a sustained collective endeavour where good ideas find the right partners and reach the audiences that matter.
Our Five Foundational Pillars
| Pilier | Description |
| 🌐 FEDERATIVE | We bring together researchers, institutions, and networks across linguistic and disciplinary boundaries, creating a unified space for scholarly exchange while respecting the diversity of traditions and approaches. |
| 🔬 COMPARATIVE | We employ rigorous comparative methodologies to analyze educational phenomena across contexts, moving beyond superficial borrowing toward deep understanding of how and why educational practices emerge and evolve. |
| 🤝 DIALOGICAL | We believe that genuine knowledge emerges through sustained dialogue—not one-way transfer but reciprocal exchange where European and Asian perspectives mutually enrich one another. |
| 🌍 INTERCULTURAL | We recognize that education is always culturally embedded, and we approach cross-cultural comparison with humility, curiosity, and respect for indigenous knowledge systems and local expertise. |
| 🔄 TRANSFORMATIVE | We are committed to research that matters—scholarship that informs policy, enriches practice, and contributes to more equitable, sustainable, and humanizing education systems worldwide. |
