Our Methodological Commitments 

Beyond Simple Comparison We move beyond “comparing apples and oranges” toward sophisticated designs that account for context, complexity, and commensurability challenges. 

Mixed Methods as Default Most educational phenomena require multiple analytical approaches. We develop designs that integrate quantitative and qualitative methods synergistically. 

Researcher Positionality We explicitly address the positionality of researchers—cultural backgrounds, linguistic competencies, theoretical orientations—and how these shape research processes. 

Ethical Reflexivity Cross-cultural research raises distinctive ethical challenges. We engage these reflexively rather than treating ethics as a procedural hurdle.
